The Bond Girl - Kim Yuna

I haven't followed figure skating since the Michelle Kwan days, because honestly, there wasn't really anyone worth watching it for.  I'm definitely not a Sasha Cohen fan, and Sarah Hughes did tickle my fancy with her energy and sweet smile, but she turned pro soon after she won her Olympic medal.

Lately though, I've been mesmerized by Kim Yuna.  I can't follow as diligently as I used to, watching all the skaters skate live because I lack a TV, but this girl is definitely a skating genius.  She balances technical and artistic so well, especially in this new (and terrible, mind you) grading system.  I'm gonna admit; Michelle Kwan's artistic skills were always a notch higher than technical.  But, no one has impressed me more with their spirals than Michelle Kwan (yes, even Kim Yuna).  Refer to pic below for the definition of spiral :)

Another thing I love about Kim Yuna is her costumes and makeup.  They're always beautifully made and totally my style.  I also like how her makeup enhances the character and emotion she's trying to portray and how she doesn't look clowny, as girls blessed with single lids can look sometimes when they don't do their makeup in a flattering way.

Am a bit reserved to say who I think "deserves" to win because I honestly have no clue on her other competitors (heard there's one from Japan and a Chinese female who's representing USA...?), but I know that Yuna's definitely getting the popularity award and will continue to shine on the ice.  Yuna, fighting! ^O^

February prizes

Eeeeks!  I'm so excited that I got my shoes from Piperlime today!  I really like ordering from Piperlime.  Not only do they offer free shipping and returns, I ordered on Sunday and received the shoes today (Wednesday), which means only a 4 days turnaround.  Pretty amazing, methinks.  Glad to know that they see the value in investing in IT.  hehe.  Possible place of employment?  Oh yes, I think so!  keke.  The shoes do look a tad bit different than I expected- it looks wider in person......or maybe that's just my wide feet speaking ^^;;

Unlisted by Kenneth Cole Pretty Please

Original $60 -> $30.34, including shipping.

Then, at the beginning of the month I also bought this necklace from Gilt.  I'm SO glad that I didn't pay the full price for it, or else I definitely would feel ripped off.  The silver is VERY thin; like, piece of paper thin.  But the design is cute.

Original $32-> $7, shipped (got lucky and there was free shipping that day ^^)

And this is a bit outdated, but just a little glimpse of what my Valentine's Day was like.

But that's not all!  Later my mom added like 5 more dishes.  haha.  Definitely food binged.  Also the first time eating at our nice red wood table.  It was.....awkward.  lol.  And such a pain to have to reach so far to eat a dish.

Spring's here!

Mood:  Lalala..Love Song (Worlds Within openining song)
Weather:  breezy, beautiful Cover Girl!

aaaaaah.  Finally, the first day of spring!  A wonderfully unproductive weekend, too.  I'll be paying the price for my unproductivity soon though haha.

So now that I've moved on from my plaid obsession and gotten my share of the winter cold, I'm ready for spring!  I already have a cute spring outfit [refer to the skirt I bought] but of course, I cannot be satisfied with that because I'm a greedy consumerist American kid who likes to shop. *grins*

My Spring 2010 Shopping Wish List:
  • some adorable pink sunglasses I saw at Nordstrom - only $10 too!
  • spring shoes, since the Steve Madden flats I wanted didn't work out
  • a romper!  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
trying to keep the list verrrry short because of my constrained budget *tear*  Someone please find me a rich boyfriend asap.  lol.

New ahjusshi!

Recently I've been craving to watch something like Dalja's Spring - light, funny, and all about old maids.  Thankfully, MBC answered my wish with The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry.  It's a very cute drama that I'm currently very attached to because I know my life's going to be like that 10 years from now, minus the guys of course since I haven't had any luck with them the past 20 years or so.  lol.  And it feels so weird because I feel like there's this one character in it, Da Jung, who is a lot like me, sadly.  She even has my eyebrow shape!!!

But anyway, the 주인공 (main character) of this post is supposed to be the hottie ahjusshi, Choi Chul Ho!  I thought he was pretty cute when I first saw him in Partner where he was the serious lawyer who had an affair. It's really amusing seeing him in a comedic role in this drama. Such a pity that he's off the market and already has a kid.  hahaha.  I don't know what's up with me and ahjusshis these days.  Probably because their acting is usually better than the young ones.  And they're just....manly and wealthy.  Usually.  ahahaha.

omo....It couldn't possibly be because I'm slowly becoming an ahjumma, right?!  D:

....

Then again, Shinhwa's already nearing their 30's.....

GAAAAAAAH.  OK.  Stop there, brain.  Thanks k bye.

All the single ladies yo!

Mood:  Beyonce - Single Ladies
Weather:  blustery and overcast with love

In a surprisingly cheerful mood today.  Probably the best mood I've been on Valentine's Day in a while ahahaha.  I think it's my new drama that's put me in such a good mood ^^  Anyway to all y'all out there, single or not, I wub you more than you could ever imagine!  *smooch smooch*  And, as Rach would say, if I were a booger, I'd pick you (again and again)  *cheesy grin*  And for some cute sappy pictures :)

Alexander McQueen

Was eating my jajjangmyun in the Atrium today (more about that later) when I saw on CNN that Alexander McQueen, 40, the English avant-garde fashion designer, committed suicide in his home today.  Honestly, before today, I had only heard of his name before and had never seen any of his stuff.  Reading up on him on wiki though, he's a really cool guy who knew what he wanted to do at a young age and is definitely not afraid to voice his opinion.  To put this guy in more perspective, he works with Lady Gaga.  lol.  'Nuff said.  Although I never think suicide is the way to go, RIP to him.  And as a tribute, just some stuff that I found of his that I really like :)

Last Friday my roomies and I went to F21 and I found a cute skirt that was unique (angled pleats AND pockets!), but I thought it was too expensive.  Then, my roommate was gonna order stuff online from F21 and to help her reach free shipping, I thought "OK, might as well get the skirt."  But when I looked again and again, it wasn't there!  The rarity of the dress is definitely what cut the deal.  It's from a special F21 collection that's only in stores and limited in quantity *grins*

Went to the mall yesterday and the muses were smiling upon me, because not only was it the last one left, it was in my size!  My hard earned skirt:

Perfect for the spring mood that I've been having lately.  Now if only the weather would cooperate!

Then, I also made..*dun dun dun dun* *drum roll*  jajjangmyun!  I think slowly my confidence in my culinary skills is chipping away, chunk by chunk.  My second successive failed dish.  *sigh*  Well, at least this one wasn't as big of a failure as my previous creamy chicken pesto.  And it wasn't my fault!  I followed a faulty recipe; it asked that I buy pork belly as the meat, but apparently that's not what you use.  (Jenn, I must get an accurate recipe from you!)  That culprit sort of ruined the dish.  Originally I had planned to make a little bit, but then I cut too much of the onions so I had to double everything else.  I was freaking out though because the pan was practically overflowing with ingredients.  Luckily though, since they were veggies, they shrank.  And I cut everything too big.  hahaha.  Other than those small mishaps though, it was delicious.  And it felt good to eat it in the Atrium today.  keke.  *^^*

Gala events

Was mostly inspired to begin this post because of the dress that Lady Gaga wore to the Grammys, I believe?  It just totally blew me away.  And look at those shoes! O_O

Found this dress too that I really like when I was browsing forums.  A bit plain, but I really like the material they used and the way they pieced it onto the bottom layer. Usually I don't go for these shades of pastel pink, but this one's just right :)

----------------------------------------------------

So today I attempted to make chicken pesto again and wow was it an epic failure.  Kind of weird since it was enormously successful the first time 'round *shrug*  I replaced the basil with spinach (since basil doesn't grow this time of year and I'm too cheap to buy it :P) and used half and half instead of heavy whipping cream because it was too rich the last time I made it.  The spinach mixed with the cream made it seem like I was eating a chicken florentine-ish; will definitely stick with the basil next time.  Spinach just tastes too plain and lacks the aroma.

The half and half part is what I judge to be the most epic fail part of today's fiasco because it just would not, for the life of it, thicken!  gahhh D:  I still can't figure out whether or not I scalded it and therefore it wouldn't thicken, or htat half and half just doesn't thicken, because in the pan it was getting very puffy instead of thick.

Oh well, I won't be deterred by such a petty failure!  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, eh?  Tomorrow's experiment:  Korean jajjangmyun!  Fighting!! ^_^V

Cleaning day!

Spent a part of Saturday cleaning my room in preparation for Chinese New Year's.  Probably should be doing my ethic papers for b-law, but cleaning is productive too, no?

Made 4 Sephora purchases during the winter holidays, and this was the total amount of protective tissue, minus like 5 sheets because I used it to wrap a textbook I sold.  Ridiculous.  You just can't get any greener, huh, Sephora?

Argh.  Now I'm forced to get into an environmentalist rant.  I definitely am not as hardcore as some other people out there because I like indulging in American consumerism, but it really is just senseless and plain stupid to not be green to some extent.  Not only does it save you money, it makes cleaning easier, and it leaves more resources for the next generation.  Americans are just so wasteful because they're so blessed with so many resources and they take it for granted.  For example, people who just have to keep the faucet running while they brush their teeth or wash their hands when people in other parts of the world don't even have enough clean water to drink and continue living.  (If you can't tell, that's one of my pet peeves.)  OK.

// rant.

Anyway, on a happier note, the weather today is beautiful.  Get off your lazy plums and get into the sun people!!  That one's for me too.  haha.

3.  Clazziquai - Chocolate Truffles Falling From the Sky

4.  Alex (Clazziquai) - Closer

7.  Coldplay - Yellow
A classic you can never get sick of.

Good day!

Mood:  Arashi - WISH
Weather:  cheery rain

In quite a good mood today.  Perhaps it's because I went to the dentist today and found out that I don't have a cavity; just a floss boo-boo.  So yay!  I get to keep all of my teeth.....for now.

Had a hearty breakfast today, a la crepes.  Having a enjoyable breakfast is always a good way to start off the day :)  I think lately I've been in a cooking mood since I'm trying to not go out to eat and save money.  So far so good!

Doesn't this guy remind u of Rafiki, the blue butt guy from Lion King?

My creepy black guy.  ahaha.  No racism intended ^^;;

"Have a nice day, my dears!"
btw, whoever said that playing with your food is a no-no was WRONG.

Next dishes I want to do:  creamy pesto chicken and pasta and arrabiatta pasta.

blahh

Mood:  Chopin, Piano Concerto No.1 Op.11 E Minor 2nd Mvt : Romanza
Weather:  Cold, cloudy, and windy with mists of rain.

These past two days I've been feeling very blah and even more unproductive than usual (If that's possible, har har).  I blame it on the weather :D  When it's this cold, the only appropriate thing to do is to snuggle up in bed with a good book or movie and hot cocoa, not go to school and study!  It's when the weather is this blah that I feel glad I didn't go up north for college.  haha.  I don't think I would have stayed in school for long ^^;;

Need to muster some productivity from somewhere.  >_>
