Another dilemma...

So I got these new shoes from Nordstrom.  Not only are they the perfect height for lots of walking, but they're also uber comfortable, which is like 80% of the reason why I bought them.  But.....the color....gah!  Keep or no keep?  The patent black was waaaay too boring, but this one looks grandmotherly.

Also, is suede in the summer OK?  They have these in a beautiful berry red color that I absolutely adore.  But I don't really like suede >_>  Which is the lesser evil?  Grandmotherly......or suede in summer?

LookBook

I've known of this site for a while, but never was really into it.  Feeling very unproductive and looking for new sites to peruse, I decided to give it a go.  Now I just feel plain old depressed, because apparently young teenagers in Europe dress like this:

In other words, a lot better than me. *tear*  How do these kids have the time + money to look so good?!

Fashion Crisis!

So my roomie got me this from the AA Warehouse sale....except I can't find an interesting way to wear it!  It's just waaay too plain on its own because I can't seem to pull off the preppy look with it alone.  And with a cardigan I'll look like my dear old grandma from like 1940.  Layering it with a vest was even more awkward.  Gahhhh.......HELP!

Calm before the storm.

Whew.  What a week.  SO glad that it's over.  Coincidentally it was "the time of the month" and it just completely screwed my schedule over because I was always so tired and kept napping like crazy.  Now that spring break is over, the only thing to look forward to is the end of the school year.  Which is not good, because that means lots of work with all the projects I'm juggling in my classes and lack of motivation.

Study day today (theoretically, at least)!  But before that, some pictures of our rehearsal last night, which was ridiculously behind.  Supposed to end by 10 PM, we got home at midnight.

We were asked to wear falsies.  Except I don't think you can tell that mine are on.  Although falsies are very addicting :D  I think they'll be my new makeup obsession.

Thursday, 03.25.2010

I'm so happy that I got this cute dress (see here). Although it tricked me to thinking that it was a romper at first glance, not only do I love the look, the price ($9.80) is fantastic! Plan on seeing a lot of it this season.

Didn't get much sleep on this day due to my procrastination. But you know what? It paid off, because the presentation that I slapped together in 3 hrs (including editing + ripping music, presentation slides + outline, + research) was a great success! keke. Another excuse to keep the bad habit.

Then in the evening met up with Melinda to meet her new bf, Wayne. Nice and funny guy; wish her luck with him. Ate at Mandola's, which was kind of disappointing because my cannelloni was too salty. bleh. But the bread was yummy ^^ And omg, I should've taken a picture, but we saw this HUMONGOUSSSS nutella that I couldn't even pick up with one arm. I want that for xmas. Oh, and btw, it cost $75.99 + tax.

Afterwards I rushed to take advantage of free movies (yay, thanks film committee!) and saw Up in the Air with George Clooney. Oh my, that twist at the end! A pretty decent film; the length was just perfect and just the right dose of humor and seriousness. And of course George Clooney. *drools* Makes me want to go back and rewatch ER. haha. Overall, a well spent evening :)

Shopping craves

I honestly don't need anything new, but I can't help but constantly shop!  Reading so many fashion blogs doesn't really help the situation either.  Nor online shopping.  Anyway, to get it out of my system, here's what I'm craving right now:

Via Piperlime.  Considering I don't have any conventional heels in my closet, this pair totally knocked my shoes off.  Classy, yet creative.  Like.

Someone to go to the fabric store with me so that I can make this:

Via The Skinny.  Sadly, it'll probably just be tacked to the end of my list of projects.

A romper.

A warm sugary drink minus the calories.  Sadly, such a thing probably does not exist.

In commemoration of SB.

*blink blink*  Did Spring Break just happen?  *dot dot dot*....

Things To Do Over Spring Break

  • Shop at Nordstrom's (I get TRIPLE points.  mwahahahaha.  Been waiting for 3 weeks!)
  • American Apparel Warehouse Sale!
  • Write 3 b-law ethics papers.
  • Translate two Japanese excerpts.
  • Read a book.  Japanese, Chinese, English... hell even Korean if I can manage.  I need to desperately get back into reading!  Recommendations would greatly be appreciated, as usual :)
  • Read Jen's recommended manga.  Must. Practice. Japanese!  一生懸命日本語を練習します!
  • Make a jewelry organizer.
  • Take a walk everyday.
  • Find OKC housing.
  • Scholarships.
  • Watch either/or Valentine's Day & Alice in Wonderland
  • Blog!  Of course :)
4 out of 12, which equals 1/3.  And I might squeeze in one-third more tomorrow (oops, meant this) morning if I write one b-law paper, so 4.333.  Not too bad, right?  And of course it's besides the fact that everything I did was very trivial and unproductive.  Seriously, when you have to do work + a dress rehearsal + a take-home test that automatically eats up 5 days' worth of time, it's so hard to find time to do everything and rot at home.

Honestly, I didn't get much of a break.  At least it didn't feel like it because I was out everyday.  Maybe that's why; I'm not very used to being out.  So I count it as just a weekends' worth, which is pretty normal.  And I'm definitely not ready for this semester to end so soon.  So many things that I'm unprepared for.  Moving out of our apt, my last spring break, my internship this summer, Japan, spring to end (gasp, yes, Austin officially has had a spring season this year), life.....[[excuse the unparallel sentence]]

RIP, spring break.  You will forever be missed.

Spring Break - Day 345, & 6!

No, that's not a typo.  It really is Day 345...because days 345 all blended in together.  I can't believe I've already hit the halfway point without doing anything fun!  This is blasphemy!  That's OK though, because I expect the rest of my spring break to pick up at a nice pace.  That is, once I finish my take-home test. -_-  That thing has been haunting me even before break started.  sigh.

St. Patrick's Day.

Probably the most productive day I've had all year so far.  Went paintballing and then finished my test an hour before the deadline!  Thank god I didn't turn it in last minute because the Blackboard clock is one minute faster than my comp's.  hohoho.

The gang.

At first the place seemed really shady because it was someone's house; they literally had a field in their backyard.  But it was fun.  haha I got sooo into it.  In one game I successfully attacked a hiding place and running in with my gun pointed I was yelling "DO YOU SURRENDER?!  DO YOU SURRENDER?!," just like in the movies.  ahahaha.  Paintball is also definitely recommended for those who want a good workout.  Holding a gun for a long period of time trains the arms and having to constantly drop, kneel, duck, and sprint to avoid being painfully splattered with paint is good for the thighs and butt.  Now I'm having trouble going up the stairs like an old granny.

Shop 'til you drop...literally.

Dropped by Walgreens today to pick up a Rimmel mascara (50% off all Rimmel cosmetics through Sunday).  Although I wouldn't buy any drugstore eyeshadow because I don't think they're pigmented and finely milled enough, I only buy drugstore mascara.  No need to buy something that costs $20+ when you're supposed to throw it out every 3 months.

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mascara Review

Rating:  Product 4/5 - Packaging 4/5
Uses:  volume & lengthening
Price:  $7.99-> $3.13 (50% off + $1 coupon)

haha, the flash flashed in the perfect spot.  Glam indeed.

Claims to have 10x volume and make your lashes 80% longer.  I think that's a bit exaggerating, but the before/after pictures indeed are quite different.  This is with one coat and no mascara base or anything.

As you can see, for $3, this mascara does its job at adding volume and length.  Definitely worth my money.  When I think of glam though, I think drama.  Perhaps if I added a few more coats it could be more dramatic, but meh, this isn't too shabby either.

Things I do not like:  The temporary cap.  Very unnecessary and not green.  Something that you just throw away immediately upon using it.  Hence the 4 for packaging.  Also, it is not waterproof, which isn't a big deal for me since I don't have very watery eyes; it's my oily lids that get to me.  But some may care, so 4 for product too.

x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x

So, I was out today shopping literally all day.  I left my house at around 9:45 AM, got back at 8 PM.  Pretty intense, but fun.  Still on the look out for THE romper though.  I still can't believe F21 sold out so fast of that romper that I wanted! sighhh.  And it didn't help that practically everyone who went to the American Apparel Warehouse sale was wearing a romper.  Just rub it in my face, why don't ya!  Oh, AA did.  I found a cute romper, but it was XL.  And of course it didn't have a twin. boooooooo.

The AA thing was disappointing yet not at the same time.  1) The prices were higher than expected ($6 for a tank is not that cheap),  2)  The selection wasn't the best; lots of odd AA-esque stuff like leotards and neon colors, 3)  Absolutely nowhere to park, causing me to have to drive back to my apt then bus + walk back, and 4)  Not as many different styles as I was expecting.

BUT I did still end up spending $45.  2 convertible dresses ($12 ea), 1 pair of shorts ($5), 1 snood ($4), 1 tee ($6), 1 scrunchie ($1).

So if you're expecting to get the classic V-necks and other "classic" styles of theirs like I was, there wasn't any at all and it might not be worth the energy and time to try to go.  But if you're into the brand, then you'll probably like it and find some good deals.

Before that we dropped by F21 at Barton.  Got some really cute stuff that I can't wait to wear!

o1,  Didn't find a headband, but found a scrunchie.  Haven't bought a scrunchie in ages, but it loooked so cute!  Like a flower :)
o2,  A bit more than what I wanted to pay, but the flower applique is cute and it's a very versatile tank that'd go well with all the skirts that I've bought.  Plus it has a built in shelf bra which is nice for something that's white.
o3, Got this instead of a romper.  It was only $9.80!  Couldn't resist.  Plus I'm a hobo anyway.  A pretty chillax summer hobo looking dress.

That's it for now!  Thanks for reading through this too long post!  xoxoxo hug hug butt slap.

Spring Break - Day 1 & 2

Confession #1:  I'm really, really bad about taking pictures.  So sorry, this post is going to all be words.  Will try to have more pictures next time!
Confession #2:  This'll be very much like a journal/diary post.  Hence, it's looooooong!  But hopefully not boring.

Friday 03.12.10

Got 3 hours of sleep after going downtown (honestly, not the best night in my life...) and woke up at 6:30 to go to work.  Then after work I rushed back home to study for my Japanese test that I was definitely not prepared for.  Damn SxSW.  So much traffic!  I was stuck on Guadalupe for like 10 minutes.

Oh well, at least I think my test went alright; at least I don't think I did worse than I usually do.  Which isn't that spectacular either, but you get what you put into it.  lol.  Was going to go to the boutique crawl, but I was just sooo pooped that I had to opt out.  I'm so sad though; I really wanted to meet the bloggers that I've been following in real life!

Got to take a much needed nap and then had to rush to pick up Eva from ushering so that we could get to our  dance performance.  I PARALLEL PARKED IN FRONT OF THE ERWIN CENTER!  *beams*  It was epic.  And then after that brilliant moment, I went on to have an epically bad dance performance.  Not only did my ribbons get tangled at the very beginning, I had the best knot yet in my dancing history - triple knots that were basically on top of each other.  lol.  Oh, and my ribbons got caught on the wooden floor so I had to yank it, hence ripping my already damaged ribbons.  *sigh*

Honestly, it was pretty bad.  And the girls who were doing the "fish dance" before us (sounds totally sketchy, huh?) turned out to be really legit and amazing.  They were able to control their energy and do the acting part so well!  Not to mention that they had pretty hot bods and costumes.  We definitely paled in comparison.  Oops!

It's OK though, because I wrapped up the day with an awesome late dinner at Milto's (a really cute and tiny Mediterranean restaurant practically across the street from our apt) and watching a very, very sappy drama with Eva.

Saturday 03.13.10

Woke up at 7:30.  haha...a very unconventional way to begin spring break.  What can I say, I was just so excited to do things!  Went to the City-Wide Garage Sale with Rach and her bf.  It was really nice walking around downtown early in the morning.  The weather was beautiful and so was the sight across Town Lake and the many cute doggies we met along the way.

Didn't find anything at the garage sale.  Was hoping I could get a cute fur coat for cheap, but it was either too big on me or badly damaged.  hahaha, and this random stranger walked by us and was like "wearing fur is cruel!"  Well, you know what sir?  Those animals are already dead and unloved; and since it's vintage, we're just giving them more love and meaning by continuing to use them.

Anyway, a lot of vintage things are REALLY expensive o_O  So my conclusion is that I don't really like vintage shopping.  lol.  I think I'd just rather buy new things because I can get it for cheaper.  And honestly, vintage is just a euphemism for "other-people's-junk."  I already have too much of my own junk; collecting another person's junk will just drive my dear old mother up the wall.

Then after that had another dress rehearsal.  Yet again another epic disaster.  It was really frustrating too; we were all ready for our first number and then our teacher sees us and starts freaking out.  Apparently we didn't have our entire costume on (we were missing these arm cuffs that had ribbons flowing from it) - except she never told us about that!  garrr.  Oh well, I'm immune to her yelling now. lol.  At least we finished early.  And then I went home to some good 'ol momma's food.  yum.

Spring Break '1o

Wow, for once I actually have a Spring Break schedule - concrete things that I will/must do.  I'm really excited!  My last spring break at UT....and maybe in forever.  o_O  awkwaaaaard.

I've realized though that I dwell way too much on the past.  Reflection is good in moderation; when all you do with your friends is talk about the "good 'ol days," you know something's wrong.  So....about my future!  Duh, of course it's going to be completely covered in a wonderful list, because I'm a big fan of lists.

  • Make a jewelry organizer.
  • Take a walk everyday.
  • Find OKC housing.
  • Scholarships.
  • Watch either/or Valentine's Day & Alice in Wonderland
  • Blog!  Of course :)
Hopefully I'll have enough time to do everything!  And so I don't forget,

A list of things that I must do before this semester ends.

`  Midnight Rodeo
`  "Up in the Air" - Film Committee free showing.
`  Fly a kite
`  Take pictures of campus
`  Take pictures of my apt (with all the roommates!)

Lalala...

Supposed to be studying for my MIS exam that I know completely nothing of, but you know the drill :P  So sad that I can't take part in the beautiful weather today with a cute outfit :(

But anyway, I was supposed to be on a diet for my upcoming recital, but that has been an epic failure with midterms (and therefore exponentially larger stomach) and my dear mother.  This has been my meal for like the past week:

Fudd's buns, red leaf lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese.

yom yom yom.  Yay for "dieting"!

Lazy Sunday...

Weather: cloudy, most likely rain later.
Mood:  dreading homework.

Life's been too boring to blog about lately.  Just the monotonous school, be a hobo, sleep, school cycle.  No style inspiration as of late, either.  Hopefully that'll change with the fashion crawl though :)

Been a productive weekend socially (for once) lol.  Friday night was spent at the Flying Saucer for a "sophomore year reunion," as Chad puts it.  Everything was basically the same, minus the fact that I've never seen Abhi so drunk.  haha.  Definitely a place I'll be visiting in the future; a very cute and chillax restaurant/bar where the noise level is just right.  A good alternative to 6th.  And I've never had such non-beer-tasting beer in my life!  Just perfect.  I like beer now :)

never have I seen bee so animate with his gestures lol

cute :)

My entire Saturday was spent at a dance rehearsal for my upcoming dance recital.  Doing three dances this year: ribbons, 18-year old maidens, and the mongolian dance.  omg.....the stage is going to be HUMONGOUS.  Just realized how big it is going to be at yesterday's rehearsal.  Say goodbye to a full stomach for the next few weeks and hello exercise! >_<  Here's a little preview of what one of our "looks" is gonna look like.

if you look closely there are two braids of hair sticking out in the back.  My sister said that it looks like a goat. -_-;;  The pieces of fabric that are pinned are our ribbons.

Afterwards we went to Hanyang for $5 Korean food.  mm mm mmmMMmm.  It was really nice getting to bond more with the class.  And we finally had a conversation with Andy, Jocelyn's husband.  When he doesn't speak he seems really hard to talk to, but once he warms up, omg, what a funny guy.  Hopefully we'll be able to go bar hopping with them some time.  They seem to know like they know how to have fun :)

Yay to a wonderful week of midterms!  I'm SO looking forward to it.  har har har.  Peace guys!
